Try the following

http://www.microchipc.com/sourcecode/

It has enough info on how to implement  triac control using PIC.

engr.humair:

To engineer a product, you have to decide what you want. Get a piece of paper and a pen.

Is the motor AC or DC? (probably AC) so this will tell you to use a triac or SCR

What is the voltage of the motor? (what parameters of the triac?) ( you will probably need a heatsink and insulation)

Safety is probably a consideration, so do you want to use optoisolators in your control circuit?

What is the basic method to control speed? Do you want to use pulse width modulation or use a D/A to drive the triac?

How do you want to command the micro to control the speed? Read a pot? Read a switch? (4, 6 or 8 bit?) I/R? Maybe read a thermocouple?

To be successful, you must break the problems into small pieces that you can easily solve. All these small pieces can be found on web sites or in data books. There are also many ways to solve these problems that I didn't mention.

Learn how to think about the problem first. That is the secret to being an engineer.
