I downloaded the files of PICC, there are two files PICC, and CGPIC, and there is a registry file, what should I do with these files.

put the picc.exe and the cgpic.exe in bin folder cover the original picc.exe and cgpic.exe.and run the registry file. that' s ok!!

You must be connected to the net while installing PICC, as HI-TIDE needs some java components to be downloaded nwhile installing....

I am new at pic c languages but I am not new at pic. I used to MPLAB(asm). Which is the best one. Hi-Tec or CCS? Thanks for your kind help

simple update jre is needed . as hi-tech uses jre for ide.

install it with internet connection as follow create dir

 c:\Program Files\HI-TECH Software\HI-TIDE\jre


now download jre from

http://sdlc-esd.sun.com/ESD18/JSCDL/j2sdk/1.4

choose custom install. install it to dir created in step above. now hitech ide works

Try http://public.planetmirror.com/pub/java-sun/JRE-1.5.0/win32/jre-1_5_0-windows-i586.exe it work for me, Install by default
