Linux (ubuntu ) for electronics ?

Hi all, I'am linux user (beginner) and I have lot of problem to leave Windows.
Lot (near all) my application work on XP!

- To develop, for microchip PIC I use Mikro C
- For circuit simulation I use Proteus.
- To discover ARM I use my old nintendo DS tank, I found tools on linux for develop program.

Do you known linux application to change my habit ?
Forum to exchange experience with linux and the electronics development ?

well before two year I use Cross office for Linux and windows apps work fine



that is like wine but better (for me)

now I have separate PC one is for Electronic only (Cheaper one) ... its easy way

or make multiple-boot system ....

You can use wine for run win32 application on linux.
Or virtual machine (WMware or virtualBox) on linux run win and under win run all application.

I use Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy
- for programming AVR ---> avrdude with usbasp as hardware programmer
- for editing C++ --->geany
- design PCB --> Kicad
- running windows application ----> wine and SUn Virtual Box (specially for run solid edge)

Ubuntu 8.04 rtai---> for running EMC2 (CNC controller)
