Hi,
Does anybody know a good 8086 Kit with on-board interfacing modules (A/D, LED matrix... etc)?

I was assigned to choose one to be used for training students.

If so, please send me the direct link to the reseller.

Cheers

Wow! Are you sure that's what they want? I worked with the 8086 back in about 1978 or 1980! I don't think they are even manufactured any more. Perhaps they meant an 8051 or one of the 8051 derivatives? If so, Philips, Dallas and almost everyone else makes 8051 development boards, some with really neat features.

At work we use a SAB-80C535-N in one secuity panel, a few of the engineirs made a "basic" single board controler from these, with details from a  project Elector did a few years ago.
SAB-80C535 is a step up from the 8051. with 6 8bit ports, one is 8bit analog.

If you want to play with 8086 or even 80286 I would try to find very an old IBM pc pre AT for the 8086 and an PC AT for the 80286.
The 8086 has only ports no analog or memory of any kind.

Hey VBCODER! If you actually go through with this, somewhere around here I've got an 8087 math coprocessor! If you are in the US (or somewhere it won't be a hassle) I'll send it to you. That will make an impressive (antique) single board computer! I'm sure I don't have the documentation for it anymore, but it will be available somewhere.

Thanks guys for your assistance. I know it is a legacy kit, however many academic authors find it a good starting point for undergraduate students to get to know a fairly simple architecture of microprocessor. The student thereafter upgrades his knowledge with more modern kits like ARM.

Also to add to this topic if you use the bios chip from a IBM pc, it has a copy of basic in the eprom. works if you don't put hard drive on the sytem.
