Can someone recommend a well supported ATMEL programmer. Well supported in different chips it can program and also compatible with some of the great programs in this forum Smiley

Hi!

I recommend Ponyprog. It is very easy to build.You can install all the components in the connectors casing.
The only bad thing with is, that is a bit slow.

i done lot many programmer for AVr, but finally i was happy using AvrOspII programmer . goto avrfreaks website for further details.

Use Jtag ice clone both free and commercial version are available on net

The problem with JTAG is that not all AVR microcontrollers support it. I would recommend staying with something STK500/AVR-ISP compatible for maximum device compatibility.


I have modified a version of the AVRUSB for my programmer.

I actually have both a JTAG and AVR-ISP on the same programming board, with three headers for each.
1) traditional 10-pin header (stk500 compatible)
2) 6-pin header (stk500 compatible)
3) 6-pin single inline to program DIP packages on breadboards easier
