Hi,

I am new to PIC Programming , I have read many of the posts and they referee to different software (Protues, Pic Basic Pro, MikroC,NI Circuit ) and before going on and waste my time learning the wrong one , I would appreciate you advice pointing me in the Wright  direction.

Hi,
I would suggest you to use Microchip MPLAB IDE for your Pic MCU simulation. MPLAB IDE has a feature which is called MPLAB SIM, it is a high speed software simulator for PIC and dsPIC MCUs with peripheral simulation, complex stimulus injection and register logging. You can download it for free at www.microchip.com.

for PIC in assembly language, the MPLAB IDE is useful to debug and simulate but no circuit simulation. In Proteus, circuit as well as code simulation and debugging is possible. I personally like proteus coz it always visual confirmation of circuit connections plus can be exported to design the PCB itself once the circuit is working in simulator.

You can use the PIC IDE Simulator by Oshonsoft, at http://www.oshonsoft.com/pic.html

Proteus is the best, and it also can communicate with MPLAB while debugging.

I would say proteus as you can do simulations of the entire project and not just the chip.
