dear friends,

i got a project  for ATMEL 89c51
I need to rotate the motor in forward and reverse directions with 2 micro switches.
i am through with all the programming.
i am going to use the ic L293D  for supply reversal
ok up to this its all fine with me.....
=============
but the problem is,  the motor is of 24 volts and 12AMP CAPACITY.
i cant connect it with L293D ic.

what should i do now....
is there any other discrete H-BRIDGE  circuit available or any ic, like l293d ,  to overcome this problem..?

the application is so simple in the nature  but i am stuck with  this hardware  problem

PLEASE ADVISE, FRIENDS....

RONY.

Why don't you build your own H-bridge with discrete components like power transistors?

The schematic of the H-brigde is really simple and for this high current it will be hard to find a single ic solution as driver.

Just search with "H-bridge" keyword and you will get a lot of information.

you can use L297 with transistors (TIP102)

sorry but (TIP102) up to 8A

L297 cannot handle so much current, no way...
You gotta have extreme cooling methods with only 5A, trust me... it fries!!!

Gotta build your own H - bridge, use MOSFETs, is the best solution, not transistors... I like the IRF series...

And the net is full of MOSFET schematics... So... just google!!!

L298 is power full h-bridge driver chip.

since its each pair have current capacity of:2A ,you have need to use three L 298.

How about a DIY mosfet h-bridge? Like this one?  Wink

http://www.x-simulator.de/forum/tronic-s-diy-dual-mosfet-h-bridge-t820.html

Its made for 2 motors but you can build the half of it. It can be driven with PWM signal for speed and two digital lines for direction, or just keep the enable line to +5volts and use only the two direction lines...
