Install v1.0 and update to v3.0 from update link.. it is good working with Microchip MPLAB.

update to v3.0 : http://ww1.microchip.com/downloads/en/DeviceDoc/MPLAB-C18-Upgrade-v3_00-win32.exe

You dont need v1.0 to have the latest Microchip C18.
