it is possible to hack in pic16f87x series and it can be done in varoius ways
1> using power glitch
2> invasive method
and using first method a commercial device is made and sold in 6000-8000euros.

There are several company in CHINA provide reverse engineering service for this kind of thing. It is legal if you are just trying to learn or study some one's design and not to pirate ,copy or sell it in any form. IBM and other big company used to do this to see if some one violate their patent or steal their design (hardware/software). 20 years ago, there are several company in silicon vally USA specialized in this, 15 years ago, in TAIWAN, right now in CHINA. they open the chip and fixed the fuse then read the code out or use some trick. cost around US$1.5K you pay some down payment first sned them the chip, they get the code out, burn the code to the same type of chip, you verify the chip, pay the rest of payment then get the HEX code. (There are some risk, after you pay the downpay and send them the chip, you might not hear from them any more. ) just search CHINA engineering website you will find some. Again, make sure not to pirate ,copy, use or sell it in any form if you are not the legal owner of the code.

But i am interested in the methods how they do it
which type of hardware they use.
