wanted schematic or info Metcal STSS-PS2V-02 Soldering station psu

Hi Everyone ,
i have a Metcal stss-ps2v-02 Soldering station  ,the psu is  in need of repair ,
it appears to be intermittent , some times works , mostly don't .

anyone know of a schematic or common faults etc

I've got one of those and occasionally it doesn't heat up. So far I've found that the problem has been with the cartridge, or the connection to the cartridge. Turn off the PSU and try rotating the cartridge in the hand piece a bit to clean the contacts before turning on again, if you have another cartridge try that.

Be careful, those power supplies had issues with the varnish on the transformer windings going bad over time.  Hopefully that's not your intermittent problem.

Otherwise what unclebob says is pretty common as the source of the issue.

Hi

I have this type of Iron for almost 14 years...(cost lot of money at the time)
Most of the problems came from the cartridge (iron head) try replacing the cartridge
I use to have schematic of this Iron somewhere - I will try to find it and upload - no promise
