To help me and others keep within the rules is it possible to set up email notifications to occur when a rule post is edited ? Rather than just created.

You can subscribe "Announcements" board. Forum engine will send you a notification if there is a new topic. That topic would be about rule update or just another stuff for the site. I always post a new topic in there to inform you members. This can work for you huh?
