want steps to initialize simple program

hi every body,
m using MPLAB 8.46, MPLAB C-18 compiler and PIC KIT 2. m new in all this. can any body help me that how to initialize using these tools? if any body can explain me the steps from cofig. these tool till burn a simple program in PIC then i will b very very thank full. m already concerning MPLAB getting started but m facing alot of problem. even the simple program of HELLO WORLD is not working in MPLAB SIM. plz plz help me regarding this..

When you said "even the simple program of HELLO WORLD is not working in MPLAB SIM". I don't know what kind of problem you are facing. Compiler problem? IDE problem? Simulation problem? or all the three problems?

I guest you have problem with setting up the IDE and setting Up Language Tools. If so, the following links will help you.

Open IDE folder and C18 folder, read example file.
Look in maestro application from MPLAB IDE. 
This forum have more real project in "hardware and tools".
