Anybody have a source for pre made libraries of 3D cad models of standard electronic packages? I am talking about things like SOIC8, TO-220, SOT-23 and so on...
I know they are relatively easy to make but why reinvent the wheel, I'm sure somebody has done this already.

For example,

http://www.simplifiedsolutionsinc.com/index.php/1ff5e8e6c3e59eb2a17950c7c9648cb2/common/offerings

I think  these come in STEP format but any format would do since it could be converted.
I found some in the 3d warehouse for google sketchup ---but I'm not impressed. I was looking for a more professional piece of work.

I would use these models for doing thermal PCB simulations. I'm sure there are plenty of other uses as well.

Anybody? If I made a bunch would anybody else be interested?

Not subscription, but you do need to register for free to D/L.  A lot of good stuff there, not just chip pkgs.

Hi
You can download components for many electronic components from the following site

1) www.national.com - for many national IC there is a solid components to download
2) http://uk.rs-online.com - RS components have a 30000 part library you can download
3) Molex.com for connector and interface components

P.s. you have to register to the sites in order to download!!!!

All the best

Yes, an old post but here is another source, these are the models used by the 3D Eagle Cad plugin that can be ripped...  Many more to be found if you did around some 3D Eagle Cad sites...
