Title: Microcontroller based variable power supply
Post by: andig on November 03, 2006, 04:32:43 16:32
Hi Everybody,

I am looking for a microcontroller (preferrably a PIC) power supply circuit. I have built one using the PWM as the vref and an op-amp to control the loop of a LM317. Problems are that for the supply to go down to zero volts I need to use a negative supply. This exceeds the total supply for the op-amp. For a 0-30 volts range I need an op-amp with supply levels as high as 40 volts. Nothing available in our market also rail-to-rail are unavailable. So sticking to a LM358. Tried to use a buffer at the output then the load regulation is poor. Any guidence would be of great help

Regards

SD

Hi andig

Right stuff for you is OPA445 from Ti.
 WIDE-POWER SUPPLY RANGE: ±10V to ±45V

Look PDF, FIGURE 10. Programmable Voltage Source.
VO = 0 to +50V
at 10mA

Hi,

Thanks for the suggestion but again it is not available in our market :'(. May be I can get it from somewhere else.

Thanks bbarney. I am sorry I did not notice your post earlier. Seems the forum does not notify by email on new replies. Or may be caught on the spam filter. Thanks any way.

I'd allready done one: Mouse Controlled Pulse Power Supply

What is the source, description,of power supply [archive from rapidshare]?
It looks interesting, but I can't view the LYT files.Which is the prog for reading?
Are this programed in pic basic?

Hi Branca

the LYT files are PCB files of Proteus.
The program is written in Proton BASIC.

Oka!Thanks Lumnos!I installed Proteus 6.9 and Proton SE 3.0.Now I can see all files.
Sorry about not seing old post on this topic.I saw somebody used PIC 16F877 instead of PIC 18F....I'm not so sure the migrating conversion can be done so easy.I/m interested in this cause I owned PIC 16F876A.
