Title: Rapidshare "Permission denied by uploader"
Post by: optikon on February 10, 2013, 01:57:05 01:57
Users of Rapidshare, follow these directions to resolve this issue.
Rapidshare is a POS these days.. and your have to change some settings to allow people to d/l your files.

The main issue is the root folder for files and any new folders by default, are set to PRIVATE. This prevents anybody other than you access to the files for downloading.

What you have to do:

1) Create a new folder, then right click on it and select "privileges."
2) A little popup window allows you to select a little check box enabling users to download, see and upload to the folder. If this is the first folder.
3) At this point, you should see a little link for account settings. click  that to go to your general account.
4) You should see something that lets you specify a shared folder alias (name) select and type a name for example: "My shared folder" and save it.
5) Go back to manage files and create a new folder and call it the same name (alias) you setup. Example :"My shared folder"
6) now right click this new folder and select privileges and now you will be able to set the check box for "users can download" or share settings as you wish.
7) move all files you wish to share into this new (shareable) folder
8] finally, users should be able to d/l with out the permission denied error.

I left out a lot of detail and am too lazy to post screen shots, maybe somebody can do that or improve these instructions.
please post your experience if you try this.
