Title: [REQ] SolidWorks Modeler for Altium Designer Post by: blindvia on June 13, 2012, 02:22:12 14:22 Does anyone here have SolidWorks Modeler for Altium Designer?
Please share links. Thanks in advance. Title: Re: [REQ] SolidWorks Modeler for Altium Designer Post by: txjammer on June 27, 2012, 11:05:46 23:05 What do you need it for? You can edit files directly from solid works and Altium updates the 3d models automatically.

Product Details: The SolidWorks® Modeler allows Altium users to create a SolidWorks assembly of a printed circuit board (PCB) directly from the Altium application. This enables designers to check for assembly problems such as misalignment of mounting holes or mechanical interference. It also provides a means of visualizing the PCB assembly. The product that your printed circuit board is part of can be "virtually assembled" in SolidWorks, eliminating the need for prototyping. The interface enables the detection of design errors very early in the design process thus reducing the cost of error correction. The Protel/SolidWorks Interface is a COM Automation client created using the SolidWorks API. It launches SolidWorks from Protel and builds up the PCB assembly by calling SolidWorks commands from inside Protel. As the interface runs, it checks the 3D library for corresponding parts. If there is no part in the 3D library, it automatically creates a "cuboid" SolidWorks part. It uses component height information stored in the Protel component. Key Features: Places SolidWorks PCB parts into the assembly Creates a cuboid part for parts not in the 3D library Supports top and bottom placed components Supports arcs in board outline and cutouts Exports mounting holes Allows for the export of selected components or the whole PCB Includes a library of 3D electronic components Free support Features: Bi-directional Allows you to use your existing parts Allows you to include traces and silkscreen in the assembly Benefits: Find and correct errors early in the design process Creates an assembly quickly Improve communication between PCB and mechanical designers Title: Re: [REQ] SolidWorks Modeler for Altium Designer Post by: mexpcb on September 04, 2012, 05:36:58 17:36 i have used "CircuitWorks" in the past...

http://wiki.altium.com/display/ADOH/Importing+and+Exporting+Design+Files and import this file in Solid Works you can add components and export to .idf file an export go back to Altium Designer more components you can download at the this site http://www.3dcontentcentral.com/default.aspx SolidWorks, step 214, or other formats Regards |
