Error indicates a corrupted partition or the partition info of your laptop have problems. Maybe, your using different OS previously...Best thing to do is re-partition your hardisk using the old way (DOS mode). You can download utility to make bootdisk here:

The XP installation disk gives you the option to format in NTFS, FAT, and both formats in a "quick" mode. try NTFS (quick). I would say its a format of hard drive problem.
You have loads of options to fix this problem, info is needed as to do you have a usb/built in Floppy drive, or a bootable pen drive. Title: Re: What is the reason behind this???? Post by: pickit2 on April 06, 2010, 01:00:20 13:00 You could not have tried all format options, but ten to one, it's the MBR, I would format drive with say Dos6.2 and Fdisk /MBR two or three times. you will be limited to the size of dos, but all you want to do is fix the MBR.

So if you need to replace the MBR, easy way is to use msdos Fdisk/MBR command (for a long time this was undocumented), sometimes you need to run command FDISK/MBR 2 to 3 times, to clear a sticky or messed up MBR.
