U can use MC3PHAC chip from Freescale(free samples!) with PIC as master controller. I now developing drive for high-end vinil turnable with this combination. If any interest arise I'll upload the details.

I fully agree with Sohel on this .
Although microcontrollers offer the possibility of pimpy add-ons they are by no means needed .
You can generate that pwm easily with a few opamps or even with some standard pwm generator .
For instance the setup for class d audio pwm generation .
Even the good'oll SG3525 can generate that pwm and is capable of adjusting the dutycycle according to your feedback loop .
Although microcontroller might seem the way '
you should ask yourself the question isn't programming just a longer way to the same goal .
To be honest i wouldnt be suprised when a analog setup outclasses the microcontroller bigtime in speed of feedback etc .
Afterall there wont be any calculations to be done no capture and compare you just feedback your output to your pwm generator (isolated ofcourse ) the reaction is instant (almost)
Maybe it sounds *stoneage* but you should be able to do that with a few opamps and a handfull of discrete components :)

Hi sohel,

The hardware schematic you provided is the one many people are using india,I know of many companies here including me who developed software around this hardware....in this I am using Spwm frequency of 6.4Khz.This design also uses BOOST PFC charging by switching lower mosfets @ 15Khz.

Is there any methode to syncronize inverter output with main?
If so please explain.

Title: Re: Sinewave Inverter With Pic
Post by: Taner on December 08, 2008, 06:12:18 18:12
Hi arash_tah,
yes, there is a two methods for synchronization of the inverter outputs to the main,
first is an simple analog method with analog regulators like TL494, SG3524
and second method is a true digital with digital PLL synchronization. This can be done with
PIC16 or PIC18 MCUs with buil-in PWM modules.

Hi,
I have downloaded your schematic which shows sine wave inverter with pic 16f72. I have some questions regarding your schematic.
I assume that it is linear type and R-C low pass filter is placed before the transformer to demodulate the carrier frequency of 6.4kHz. Please correct me if I am wrong. If I am correct, please let me know the modalities of low pass R-C filter for demodulation. Hope you will throw some light on the above matter and hope that it will not create any problem regarding the commercial interest of your sine wave inverter.

Build DDS_ TO 2.5 to 20khz  sine wave 4 bit generator
this need low pas filter additional

modify value  fase = fase + xxxx
1 TO  4095  this afect output frecuency
use scope to see output

Hi
I was trying to develop a sinewave inverter with 16f73. The waveshape with normal domestic load is just perfect. But it was meant to be used with used with a machine which uses a technology like a dimmer . And whenever this machine is turned on , the wave shape is getting disturbed.
I have included the oscilloscope display of the output . Can anyone please give me some advise about how to correct this problem.

Hi;
At my mind it's a mains noise only, caused by the triac-controlled motor at every moment when it's switched on.
Don't worry the system should be work perfectly so ignore it.

However, use a better filtered power supply for the PIC circuit, proper groundings,
... and/or use better shielded scope measuring wires :-) :-).

But  ...this is my mind only ...!!
Have a nice day

Hi Zuisti
I know it is being caused by the triac switching. But i have to find a way to stop this deformation of the wave.

Hi arash_tah
I am using a full bridge inverter followed by a stepup transformer with split bobbin. The input to the inverter is 12VDc. I will draw a block diagram of the inverter and post here. I think the feedback system i am using is not fast enough to correct the wave shape.

hi to all users
in my opinion there may be two issue regarding to wave disturbance
1) dimmer load may be higher then then unit amp rating and other is control method of pure sine wave invertor wich requierd double calculation all of pic16fx7x desgines based on single calculation which only corrects voltage errors on feedback but not the current error calculation and wave calculation points are less mean small no of wave segments per cycle in lookup table
so for solution  if firmware is enhanced and sine lookup table is doubled in segments  then its current segment count for example if present lookup table is devided in 20 portion to farm a complete wave so double this wave segment to 40 this will reduces the hormonic distortion but for best result add current feedback and calculation for ref of my point regarding to control of pure sine plz see freescale online ups ref disgine and also ti online ups desgine and latest ref desgine on dspic based ups desgine

HI shams Iqbal ,
Can you write little more detail about current feedback system. Cz i also made same kind of Inverter where a common problem is wave shape distortion. Normally i am using 18f452 and CCP1 for PWM and 64 Numbers of  Pwm lookup table For Feedback control.

Now i need the idea for Current lookup table, And the method of applying it with main sine lookup table Please help.

Some of those dimmers are pretty nasty in terms of their power factor. You might be seeing big current spikes at times when you're unable to handle it. Those dimmers can appear to be anything but resistive.

Dear
During my research on sine wave inverter i found many application note . U can check there are free scale micro controller ups application note which will give u good explanation also check pic offline ups ref design.  Pic ups ref design project is good explanation for ur understanding but remember current control loop requires high computing power of mcu so if u want to build this control then i will recomend u to use stm32 famly mcu with all sported features of sine wave invertor and very cheep even price is lower then  pic18f452

The link posted by Pushycat was from EDABOARD forum ... http://www.edaboard.com/thread150224-8.html    ... many people had already made that design and had complained about this design..as the performance is below average ..so better read first those all pages of that thread and then try something.. that may help save you from after effects like "FRUSTRATIONS"  etc.

M_rahman who claims to be the author of the project, say in one of his posts that the project was published in one of the popular electronics magazine, and is fully working. He has also said anyone is open to test or simulate its functionality as all releated files are given including the proteus simulations.
By the way i have not tried it personally till date but surely intend to have a try as we have all the files. In a situation where despite a lot discussions and requests for a sinewave inverter with PIC were going on, no one had posted a single commercial project till date. But as it is rightly said, "something is better than nothing" we have almost everything what we need to have a fully functional Inverter project, and i heartily appreciate M rahman for bieng so liberal to share the full project.
Cheers
