Title: Iphone 3G, reprogramming bootloader chip
Post by: LeoDorant on November 19, 2010, 09:12:08 21:12
Hi,

Can anyone shed some light on the bootloader chips anatomy in Iphone 3G's ? I'm stuck with an AT&T locked phone, live abroad, and cant get it unlocked beacuse of 5.9 bootloader chip.

Have anyone tried to obtain some unlocked .hex (or something) and reprogram them ? I've heard of some guy in Taiwan who does just that...

/Leo

Are you sure the radio band in that phone is compatible with where you are?

what is the software revision and what is the modem rev ?
you can try in safari :
www.jailbreakme.com
It will unlock your phone
If you have the latest BS from apple, software ver 4.1 or higher try
http://apps-ipad.info/search/limera1n/page/36/ good tutorial and
http://www.limera1n.com/ the actual program
I have a FREE iphone 4 withe the latest crap from apple and unlocked also my new Ipad
Now of course i have Cydia and all the goodies and two unlocked devices

Hi,

Im currently on version 4.0 (8A293), modem firmware 05.13.04 and the mentioned bootloader 05.09.

The phone is jailbroken with redsnow (which includes limera1n), but it wont get any carrier signal ("No carrier"). I do the unlock with ultrasn0w through Lydia.

Odd thing is, that I did manage to get a small amount of signal for a couple of minutes - I was even able to place a call (recipient couldnt hear me though). I was also able to get the name of the carrier with a version number ( in the settings-about screen).

Solutions - how do I check radio band compatibility ?

Try to disable the 3G or edge (whatever is available in your country), also in contrary to that please delete any apps that you might have added to block edge or 3g. These two factors can block signals to the device.

Yep, tried that thanks, but no luck. I've noticed that the carrier version and name must be in the SIM and not necessary loaded from the signal provider or 3G (I tried installing the old AT&T SIM). I've also had it open to check for antenna connections... didnt find anything obviously broken though.
