Title: SD card manufacturer ID
Post by: acinonix14 on September 01, 2014, 06:30:12 06:30
Hi,

I would like to ask how can I found a list with available manufacturer ID on SD card to check if the card is fake or not.
I am read the SD card registers, and more specific the CID register and it returns 0x27.
The card is SD-card 2GB Verbatim.

CID Register
 Manufacturer ID   : 0x27
 OEM  ID   : PH
 Product name      : SD02G
 Product revision  : 3.0
 Product serial no :011E8DAE
 Manufact. date    : 12 / 2011

Thanks,

What makes you think the 'fakes' or 'clones' are not going to have fake or cloned manufacture info as well nowadays just like many of the fakes have had exaggerated fake capacity data written to them over the years?

There is no official public list only the proprietary and 'secret' one held by the SD group, but here is one someone assembled one based on samples, but take it with a grain of salt, lots of rebranding and repackaging in the memory industry...

is another interesting read.
I seen at a local phone shop, a box of microSD cards, that was being repackaged, when the shop was not busy.

Thanks Cocacola! I think you are right! From the list, I see it is not easy to check the originality of card.
