Bunion, are you sure that it is not a PIC16C54?

I cannot remember a 18 C 54 in the 18C series.. but I might be wrong tho..

In any rate if it is a 18 pin package it should be a PIC16 series.

Here's the microchip Parts selector guide (MAPS) can't find it either and using it I can find a 16c54 but they recommend using a 16f54 no 18c54

Correct, I don't believe it exists.

The PIC16C54 was the original OTP devices released by Microchip back in the day, I still have some of the ceramic windowed versions lying around, you know, to pop into the UV eraser, and twiddle your thumbs for 15 minutes before you could reprogram it after you identified that silly little bug.

The 16F84 followed shortly thereafter, which made life a lot easier.

Then a few years later they released upgrades to these parts with flash replacing the OTP memory, and I still have a design with the original PIC16C57 part, now sporting a flash version, that a customer insists on ordering from me from time to time.
