Title: How to start with the PIC24?
Post by: computer on December 11, 2007, 09:20:48 21:20
Hey,

It seems to be very hard to find some basic information about the PIC24...

Anyone have some really basic material to start with the basics on PIC24? A simple blinking led project would be really appreciated.

Hi'
I strongly recommend you to study the book:
Programming 16-bit PIC Microcontrollers in C (learning to fly the PIC 24) by Lucio Di Jacio
it is really a useful book which explain completely the PIC 24 Micros with c30 compiler and have a wide range of practical projects.

Hi
I agree Massoud77, Di Jasio's book is great.
http://www.amazon.com/Programming-16-Bit-PIC-Microcontrollers-Technology/dp/0750682922/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1197449029&sr=1-1

The book : http://rapidshare.com/files/76008671/Fly24.zip.html
Source code for all exercises : http://www.flyingthepic24.com/3.html

If C is not your favorite language there is a Basic way with Mikroelektronica :
(MikroBasic for dsPic and PIC24 with some usefull samples)

Regards

After you read the mentioned book and got the c30 compiler, you also need hardware tool to program your code into pic24 chips. I'd prefer the ICD2.

PIC24 Has only 1000 cycles of programming and the few programmators support it

First of All I would suggest that you should buy some development board, for a qucker start and microchip compiler, theres a lot of libraries ezamples etc..

The book isn't /that/ interesting anymore if you ask me. PIC32 might be the better choice now, and di jacio's updated book for that is easily found
