If one wants to build such a device just to BUILD it for fun..that is okay. But as a tool better look for one of these ready to run devices. I own one from ost2002.com got it a year ago for 200 bucks ( 40 mhz 2 channel USB ). If you look for something universal...try labjack or the like...but theay are also slow..up to 500kc
