Title: My PicKit2 just threw a nutty
Post by: towlerg on September 13, 2017, 11:03:53 11:03
For no apparent reason (I don't run any uChip software apart from the assembler) on launch my PicKit2 announced that it had to upgrade to version 4.something and promptly bricked itself. I had to reload it manually. Thanks a bunch uChip.

Did it bricked the BootLoader too? I have a home-built clone, with russian firmware to emulate an AVR programmer. The recovery mode is activated, If i recall correct, by pushing the button and then connecting the USB. The standalone programmer app should be able to load a new OS. Yours PK2 is a Clone?

If you disasseble your pickit2 you can find an ICSP unsoldered connector. You can re-flash the pickit2 firmware throught it.
I've done it once, few years ago, when I bricked my pickit2.

Are you having a laugh, it costs 200 quid and only works with MPLABX
